从目前的发展走势看，海南发展正在走向前一次开发的歧途。如果继续这样的发展，那么海南的未来堪忧。

第一，大量发展房地产，将严重损毁海南生态环境。

海南赖以自豪的就是得天独厚的天然资源。热带气候、森林、海滩是海南吸引广大游客的三***宝。但自从海南开发以来，几乎所有县市都在大力发展房地产，开发不仅毁坏了大量的森林，而且严重破坏海南的生态环境。而这还是刚刚开始。一旦这样的全面开发继续下去，海南的自然环境将受到相当程度的破坏。

第二，大量移民，将会让海南基础设施不堪重负。

随着海南开发号角的吹响，内地大量民众开始借购买住房之机，移民海南岛。这对于基础设施本来不是很好的海南来说，无疑是一副重担。如果为了应对移民大力建设基础设施，那么势必破坏环境。如果不去发展，那么海南的管理必定陷入脏乱差的境地。

第三，大力发展公路交通的误区。

海南发展催动了当地管理者借机大力发展公路交通。这从表面看是海南的福音，但从深层次看，大力发展公路交通的行为正在撕扯着海南版图。一旦海南公路密布，那么整个岛屿将失去魅力。大量公路会带来汽车的大发展，而汽车的发展对海南生态环境的影响显然是负面的。

笔者以为，海南国际旅游岛的发展，首要问题是要保护好环境。那么一切破坏环境的行为都应禁止。地产开发，只能限于旅游配套设施建设；交通应以铁路为主，严控汽车发展；应该让海南继续保持蓝天、白云的良好自然环境。
