Creating an Oracle RAC Database with DBCA
Deleting a RAC Database with DBCA
DBCA has the following primary functions:
Create the database and its instances
Setup Network configuration for database,instances and database services
Register the database in Enterprise Manager Grid Control or configure Database Control
Configure ASM
Start up the database,its instances,services,and any other node applications.
Benefits of Using DBCA:
Because DBAC's preconfigured database optimize your environment for features such as ASM,
the server parameter file,and automatic undo managemetn.
DBCA also provides pages to create new ASM disk groups if they are needed.
If you use ASM or cluster file system storage,then DBCA also configures automated backup,which
the flash recovery area.
With DBAC,you can create site-specific tablespaces as part of database creation.
DBCA also configures your RAC environment for various Oracle high availability features,
such as services and cluster administration tools.
It also starts any database instance required to support your defined configuration.
Verifying Requirements for DBCA:
/mountpoint/clusterware/cluvfy/runcluvfy.sh stage -pre dbcfg -n node_list -d oracle_home [-verbose]
/dev/dedrom/clusterware/cluvfy/runcluvfy.sh stage -pre dbcfg -n node1,node2 -d /oracle/product/10.2.0/
Create an Oracle RAC with DBCA:
DBCA does following:
1,Creates an operative RAC database and its instances
2,Creates the RAC data dictionary views
3,Configures the network for the cluster database
4,Starts the Oracle services if you are on a Windows-based platform
5,Migrates Oracle Database 10g Release 1(10.1) listener and related files to the 10.2
Oracle home
6,Starts the listeners and database instances and then starts the high availabiliby
services
7,Configures Enterprise Manager Database Control or Grid Control
Deleting a RAC with DBCA:
At this point,you have accomplished the following:
1,Deleted the selected database from the cluster
2,Deleted the selected database's Oracle services for Windows-based platforms
3,Deleted high availabiliby services that were assigned to the database
4,Deleted the Oracle Net configuration for the database
5,Deconfigures Database Control
6,Deleted the OFA directory structure from the cluster
7,Deleted the data files if the data files were not on raw devices
