"There was no negative news or advertising. This was the first year I didn't see negative news on Black Friday and beyond," Decker said. "The news media didn't plant negative thoughts in people's heads and that helped."Some jewelers benefited from the sale of some large ticket items.
"Our sales ranged from 25 to 50,000 for some diamond jewelry," Decker said. "Pandora jewelry and Hearts on Fire diamonds were selling."Beerbower sold items ranging from $24.99 up to 20,000.
"Larger diamonds were a popular item this year," Beerbower said. "We sold a lot of diamond tennis bracelets, diamond earrings were a hot item and engagement rings were a high ticket item."
