The woman, who is now married, told the Lauderdale County jury that Brian Keith McGuire attacked her at his brother's home when she was 20.
McGuire, 48, is charged with first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and first-degree sexual assault. McGuire, who now lives in Jackson, is a former teacher at Clements High School.
The TimesDaily has a policy of not releasing the names of people who are reported victims of sexual abuse.
The woman reported the allegation to police in 2006, and McGuire was arrested in August 2008.
When asked by Assistant Attorney General Pamela Casey why she waited more than 15 years to report the attack, the woman wiped tears from her eyes and said, "Because it was a secret. It was my secret and I didn't want it out because I was afraid I would be judged."
The woman said she was a virgin at the time of the attack.
The trial recessed for the day before defense attorney Jeff Austin cross-examined the woman.
In his opening statement, Austin told jurors the woman had a crush on McGuire and the sexual encounter was consensual. "The victim has a romantic interest in Keith and it was no secret."
During questioning by Casey, the woman denied having had a romantic interest in McGuire and adamantly denied consenting to have sex with him.
The woman said having to talk to investigators and testify about the attack has been difficult.
"I've had to relive my past, a past I've kept hidden, a past that I've kept secret," she told jurors.
Other than her parents, a former teacher, a doctor and a few friends, the woman said she did not tell anyone about the attack until contacting Florence police in April 2006.
During questioning by Casey, the woman said the attack occurred Dec. 20, 1990. The woman said she discovered McGuire in his brother's home, and was told that he was there to check on his niece and nephews. She testified she had put the children to bed shortly before he arrived at the house.
She testified that McGuire offered to massage her shoulders. He then pulled her to the floor, removed her shirt, unzipped his pants and ordered her to perform oral sex, according to the woman's testimony.
"I turned my head and said, 'no, that's gross,' " she told the jury.
The woman then described being raped. She said McGuire held her to the floor and ignored her repeated requests for him to stop. "I continued telling him no over and over."
The woman said she tried to push McGuire away, but he was too heavy.
She added that after the attack, McGuire left the home singing the Kentucky Headhunters song "Dumas Walker."
The woman said she took a shower after he left.
"I took a shower because I felt dirty," she said. "I felt betrayed. I just wanted to get him off me. I just wanted to get his smell off me."
In her opening statement Wednesday, Casey told jurors the victim contracted a sexually transmitted disease. "Not only did the defendant take her virginity, he infected her with genital warts. That's an infection you keep your entire life. It never goes away."
The Attorney General's Office is prosecuting the case at the request of Lauderdale District Attorney Chris Connolly who cited a possible conflict of interest because he knew members of McGuire's family. Franklin County Circuit Court Judge Terry Dempsey was appointed to preside in the case after Lauderdale judges cited
