Install Bisigi Themes in Fedora 14 (Laughlin)

This quick tutorial will show you how to quickly install and configure Fedora with nice themes from the Bisigi Project. If you think the default themes that come with Fedora are ugly, then check out the Bisigi Project for cool and nice looking themes for your computer. I am going to show you how to do it quickly in Fedora.

 

Getting started:

 

To get started, go to System –> Add/Remove Software.

 

 

Then search for and install gtk-murrine-engine

gtk-murrine-engine

 

After installing, go to to nice looking themes. Expand each theme and select the file ending in (.tar.gz)

 

 

When prompted, select ‘Save File’

 

 

Next, go Places –> Downloads.

 

 

Right-click the downloaded file and select ‘Extract Here’

 

 

Next, open the extracted folder and take notes of the three highlighted folders shown below.

 

 

Open the ‘Gtk’ folder and extract the file there also.

 

 

Next, right click the extracted folder and select ‘Copy’

 

 

Then press Alt-F2 on your keyboard and type the line below. If you don’t’ have beesu,

beesu nautilus /usr/share/themes

.

 

Then paste the folder there.

 

 

Do the same for the Icons folder, but copy and paste it in:

/usr/share/icons

beesu nautilus /usr/share/icons

 

Put the images in the Wallpaper folder in:

/usr/share/backgrounds

beesu nautilus /usr/share/backgrounds

 

When you’re done, go to System –> Preferences –> Appearance.

 

 

Apply the new theme and you’re done.
