CCNA / CCENT Answer: If the switch’s MAC table has no entry for the destination MAC address of the frame, the frame will be flooded - that is, a copy of the frame is sent out every single port except the one it came in on.
If the switch’s MAC table does have an entry for the destination MAC address, and the source and destination are shown to be off different ports on the switch, the frame is unicast - sent out only the port leading to the destination address.
If the switch’s MAC table has an entry for the destination MAC, and the source and destination are shown to be off the same port, the frame is filtered by the switch - it’s not forwarded in any way.
CCNA Security / ISCW Exam Answer: SDEE (Security Device Event Exchange) is an application-layer protocol that allows the exchange of messages between an IPS server and client. SDEE pulls logs from our routers, and these logs can be viewed in SDM.
