袁萌博客上看到一篇文章，是介绍一个Linux软件的，这就是 Portable Linux（点击此处访问：），这个软件可以将Linux的Live CD安装到U盘上，而且还有一些特殊的功能。和Ubuntu提供的创建USB LiveCD的工具相比，确实有不少改进，基本上可以支持任何Linux发行版。
截止2009年1月的最新版本是0.9.3，有RPM和DEB包可以下载。
Portable Linux lets you convert your removable drive into a Live,
bootable Linux, so you can run your favorite Linux distribution with
your favorite settings, anywhere in the world. , Portable Linux can:

The live removable drives created by this program let you use the
remaining disk space on your removable drive to store and transport
files between Windows, Mac and Linux computers, as usual. Since it
uses a Live CD, you save valuable disk space on your removable drive.

- boot a Linux or Windows machine with a damaged MBR (master boot record), then subsequently repair it,

- boot your Linux operating system using the root partition on your hard disk.
