In the end, Hyper-Threading is on the verge of advancing the performance of the standard desktop computer even though at the moment there are limited applications for the average computer user. However, if consumer computing can take advantage of Hyper-Threading like the server market has, we could be looking forward to a large performance boost in the near future. With full hardware and operating system support, it will ultimately be up to software manufacturers to write their products to leverage Hyper-Threading. If Intel has anything to say about it, they will, and why not? Hyper-Threading has the potential to change the way we looking at computing by moving from raw power and speed to a more practical approach where processors are more efficient and can do more with less.
