The gate of a field near Chertsey lock The animal was found under tarpaulin which was covered with rocks and logs in Thameside, Chertsey, on Wednesday.

The foal's front legs were strapped together and the RSPCA said witnesses saw a black car drag the six-month-old animal 500m before it was abandoned.The pony was alive when found but died shortly after. It was underweight, dehydrated and suffering from worms.

The RSPCA said its officers were originally alerted to a foal collapsed by the gate of a field near Chertsey lock.But when they arrived the animal had maoyu vanished. Witnesses said they had seen two people in a car dragging the foal.
