Led by former Kings left wing Bob Berry and his two goals
Saturday’s game at Vancouver will also help kick-off off a special “Kings Legends Series” planned
boilers for later this season at STAPLES Center. As part of this series, the Kings will again wear their special vintage jerseys on three future home dates while honoring three distinguished former players. Legends Series dates and honorees will be announced at a later time, as will details of a vintage merchandise line and special game ticket packages including group packages. Fans will also have the opportunity to purchase game-used vintage equipment.
“Our vintage jerseys are very popular with our long-time fans and, on a personal note, they take me back to my first few seasons with the Kings when we skated in our purple and gold sweaters at the Forum,” said Luc Robitaille, Kings President, Business Operations. “As an organization, we feel that it’s very important to continue to recognize the accomplishments of our former players and to celebrate our 40-plus years of hockey here in Southern California, and as for this Saturday – the beginning to our regular season – we are excited to celebrate our shared history with the Canucks.”
Led by former Kings left wing Bob Berry and his two goals, the Kings beat the Canucks 3-1 on October 9, 1970, at Vancouver’s Pacific Coliseum. Ross Lonsberry also scored for the Kings and goaltender Denis Dejordy backstopped the win with 24 saves as the Kings spoiled Vancouver’s NHL debut.
