Admission is $8 at the gate and "survival kits" ($4 prop bags) will be sold, although people can bring the following props on their own: birdseed (no rice), newspaper, small water pistol, rubber gloves, confetti, toilet paper, toast, cards, flashlights, party hats, noisemakers and bells.
Seats are $6 in advance at Roberts Stadium and The Centre, at Ticketmaster outlets and Schnucks. Tickets also can be charged online at Ticketmaster.com or by calling (800) 745-3000.
If you have to ask why the props, then you must be a newbie who's never watched the 1975 film starring Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick as a young couple seeking shelter on a stormy night at the castle of a transvestite mad scientist named Dr. Frank-N-Furter.
"Most people know what to expect as far as the film, but they don't know about the interactive aspects," said Kathy Embry, director of sales and marketing for SMG Evansville, which manages Mesker.
Over the years, not only have audiences memorized the movie's lines, they've learned to banter back using props. (The kit contains an instruction sheet).
For instance, when a rival scientist named Dr. Everett Scott enters the lab and Brad says, "Great Scott," the audience hurls toilet paper.
And the rubber gloves have to be snapped, in sync, three times while the monster "Rocky" is being created.
When Brad and Janet run through the , the audience uses water pistols, and newspapers for protection.
