The Clean Sweep if for the disposal of household hazardous waste. Residents of Eau Claire County can safely dispose of household hazards which include, but are not limited to, the following: Pesticides, fungicides, herbicides, fertilizers, solvents, old fuels, cleaners, oil paint, varnish, lacquers, shellac, paint thinners, roofing tar, nail polish remover, lye, polishes, air fresheners, drain cleaners, and motor oil.
Items that are accepted for a fee include: Latex paint ($1.00 for pint can; $2.00 for quart can; $4.00 for gallon can); Anti-freeze (25/pound); Aerosol cans ($1.20/pound); Dry cell batteries (85/pound for alkaline & Ni-Cad; $6.36/pound for mercury & lithium); and Fluorescent lamps (46 for 4 footer, 69 for lamps over four feet, 46 for compacts).
Items that are not accepted include lead acid batteries (automotive batteries), radioactive
HOWEVER materials, biological and infectious waste, pressurized cylinders, and explosives or shock sensitive materials.
