On the negative side What follows is a host of spooky goings on, a lot of murky motivation, some bizarre decision-making and, come the climax, a woeful pot-pourri of demons and poor effects.

On the negative side there is plenty to document - the acting is sub-standard with a host of out-of-place American accents (including Brits putting on American accents for a film set in Europe in the middle ages.

On the positive side the photography and look of the film is great and there is no doubt that when done well, this genre can still produce good cinema, or even more-than passable efforts like Solomon Kane or Black Death from last year.
