Australian golfer Kristie Smith will be gunning for her third professional victory and her first on the European Tour after moving within a shot of the lead at the Ladies Slovak Open in Tale,
Edge card Slovakia, Australian Associated Press reported (AAP) on Sunday.
Smith is confident she can win her first European Ladies event.
"I feel like I have a really good chance to win this week. I feel that the golf course really suits my game," Smith told AAP.
"I've had a couple of wins this year and the first one shooting nine-under in the last round.
"That was nice and I know I definitely can do it. To be not leading going into the last round calms the nerves a little bit too."
Smith, the 21-year-old has carded an impressive five-under par 67 in wet conditions to move up the leader board from eighth to outright second on seven-under 209,
Edge card just one stroke back from England's Melissa Reid.
Reid has fired a course-record seven-under 65 in the third round which included seven birdies and an eagle.
The 22-year-old Reid has recorded her first professional victory three weeks ago in Turkey and followed up that performance with a runner-up finish to countrywoman Laura Davies in Germany a fortnight ago.
However, Smith has been in good form this year herself having posted two victories, the first at the Royal Canberra Ladies Classic on the Australian Ladies Professional Golf (ALPG Tour) in January and then the Daytona Beach Invitational in April on the Futures Tour.
Spain's Maria Hernanhez Munoz (69) is third at six-under par, while 10 times winner on the Ladies European Tour, Gwladys Nocera (68) from France is also in contention at five-under par and in fourth position.
