Old Hickory Barbecue also produced coleslaw
When he and his brother, the late "Buddy" Wrench, ran the business, Wrench said, they had as many as 40 employees on the payroll. But the work force had slipped to about four or five people before production shut down, he said.
Old Hickory Barbecue also produced coleslaw in ready-to-go containers.
"They're not doing enough business," Wrench said, citing increased competition. "There was a time people would buy it, take it home and eat it. Now they stop at McDonald's and
songjia other fast-food places. Things have changed over the last 20 years."
