Toshiba Mitsubishi-Electric Industrial Systems Corporation
Toshiba Mitsubishi-Electric Industrial Systems Corporation, a global consortium of automation service providers that supplies resources to large companies in metal, oil and gas and utility sectors worldwide, is in talks with India’s largest engineering company Larsen & Toubro to build a power drive and motor manufacturing unit in the country.
The $2-billion consortium of Toshiba, Mitsubishi Electric and US conglomerate General Electric, which recently floated an Indian subsidiary, has plans to set up a manufacturing unit for automation products to expand its presence in the country.
“We are talking to few major Indian players including L&T for partnership. However, we’ve not finalised anything yet,” TMEIC GE CEO Dale Gurdry told ET. India is a growing market due to its huge investment plans in the industrial and infrastructure segments, he said, adding that the (automation) sector
technology could expect a business of around $125 million every year by 2015.
