U.S. and Missouri flags at state buildings Eastern Jackson County, MO —Gov. Jay Nixon has ordered flags at half staff on Wednesday to honor a state trooper who died in the line of duty last week.

Sgt. Joseph Schuengel served in Troop C of the Missouri State Highway Patrol in St. Charles County. Schuengel, 47 and a 17-year veteran with the Highway Patrol, died Friday when a Highway Patrol helicopter crashed outside St. Louis.

U.S. and Missouri flags at state buildings will fly at half-staff from Cleaning sunrise until sunset on Wednesday, the day of Schuengel’s funeral.
