SOME Tasmanian parents
SOME Tasmanian parents have
sight spent more than $2000 on Christmas presents for their kids -- six months before the big day.
Ask Tasmanian parents and they'll tell you that shopping for children's toys has become an epic experience akin to a highly organised military operation.
Not content to walk into shops a few weeks before Christmas to try their luck, many parents are splurging on Christmas toys now at mid-year sales run by major retailers.
However it's not an exercise for the faint-hearted -- parents are going into battle with hundreds of others, waiting in layby queues for up to two hours and dosing up on energy drinks to keep themselves awake during the sales, which generally start at midnight.
