‘Footloose’ Remake Loses Star
It seems like nobody wants to get Footloose after all.
Continuing in the tradition of people backing out of the movie,
Electronic whiteboard star Chace Crawford backed out of the remake last night, according to MTV News.
Crawford cited a scheduling conflict as his reason for backing out, because movie production will occur at the same time as his hit CW show Gossip Girl.
Crawford is not the first male lead to back out of the film. Zac Efron backed out last summer with fears he would start being typecast into singing and dancing roles.
The film also lost High School Musical director Kenny Ortega in October, but has since replaced him Craig Brewer, who wrote the new screenplay.
Paramount, who will be producing the film, took the movie off their production schedule in January, but is now once again planning to go ahead with the film.
There is no exact word on who will be filling the shoes of the Kevin Bacon’s old role, but Paramount may do a nationwide hunt for an unknown to play the role, which could work better than having a higher profile male star.

Electronic whiteboard is a relative unknown herself, and casting another lead who isn’t quite on the A-list yet could make better on set chemistry.
