问题症状

TZ89N-VW 磁带机备份故障。设备出现故障时的 ASC/ASCQ 错误代码如下所示：

* 80 01 – 驱动器需要清洁
* 11 00 – 介质错误、未还原读取错误
* 0C 00 – 介质错误

系统同时报告有关设备的奇偶错误

改变

TZ89N-VW 磁带机已经被更换，新的设备出现同样的错误导致故障。BA356 架和驱动器介质也已经更换。依然发生故障。

原因

设备和 BA356 架更换后 TZ89N-VW 磁带机仍然无法备份。从收到的配置信息中得知 TZ89N-VW 放置于最接近 Alphaserver 电源的 BA356 插槽中。可能电源和磁带机冲突。推荐的操作是重新将 TZ89 磁带机重新放置在离电源最远的插槽中。

解决办法

移动 TZ89N-VW 磁带机到距离系统电源最远的 BA356 插槽中。TZ89N-VW 测试并按预期工作。

Symptom

TZ89N-VW tape drive failing backups. Unit is failing with the following ASC/ASCQ error codes:

 

*    80 01 - drive requires cleaning

*    11 00 - medium errors, unrecovered read errors

*    0C 00 - medium errors

 

The system is also reporting parity errors against the device.

     

Change

The TZ89N-VW tape device has been replaced, new unit is failing with the same errors. The BA356 shelf has also been replaced, and drive media. Fault is still occurring

Cause

TZ89N-VW tape drive still failing backups after the replacement of device and BA356 shelf.

From configuration information received, the TZ89N-VW is located within BA356 slot nearest to the Alphaserver power supply.

It is possible that the power supply is interfering with tape drive performance, recommend that TZ89 is re-located to slot furthest form the power supply.

Fix

Move TZ89N-VW tape drive to BA356slot furthest from system power supply. TZ89N-VW tested and working as expected
