OLAP Operations -- Roll-up, drill-down, slice or dice, Pivot

There are several Operations in OLAP, which are : Roll-up, Drill-down, Slice or Dice and Pivot.

Roll-up (Aggregation)

• dimension reduction, e.g. total sales by country
• summarization over aggregation hierarchy, e.g. total sales by city and year, totals sales by region and by yea

Drill-down (Navigation to detailed data)

• e.g. sales or expense by city, top 3% of cities by average income
  

Slice or Dice  (Selection, defines a subcube)

• e.g. sales where city = Vancouver and date = '2015-02-16'
