上周六参加了公司组织的9KM徒步.From Kent Ridge Park to Vivocity.
一路上经过了二次世战的博物馆,花,树培植圃。最有意思的是其中的一段空中大道,长有2KM的钢铁桥,从山中穿过,如行走在半空中,和大自然有一了次绝对的亲密接触...... (Love it, Kiss. hahahahhaha)
The Southern Ridge Walk --Mathias |

The group at the Alexandra Arch bridge
Thirty-two Hitachi GST staff, friends and family members walked through the much publicized Singapore ’s Southern Ridge on 16 August. The morning started bright and cheery with everything going according to plan.
At Kent Ridge , some of the participants were surprised that the park is densely forested. Said Zhu Bolan, “ Singapore is such a busy place, I thought we will be walking through busy and noisy streets. Looking at the lush greenery, the quiet surroundings and able to breathe the fresh air, make me feel so relaxed and happy”.
From Kent Ridge Park we went through the ‘canopy walk’ and passed through some historical pages. The park was the site of a Second World War battle ground between the 3rd Malay Regiment and the invading Japanese army. At the end of the Canopy walk we reached the War Memorial where the museum, ‘Reflections at Bukit Chandu’ is located.

The many Gardens at Horti-Park |
We then walked down the trail to the Horti-cultural Park or Horti-park in short. Our pretty ladies all went ‘aga-ga’ over the beautiful floral arrangements and unique landscaping. The Horti-park showcased popular landscape arrangements by renowned Singapore horticulturists and landscapers.
After about 15 minutes of immersing ourselves with the flowers and plants, we made our way to the ‘Alexandra Arch’, a steel labyrinth like structure. We marveled at the design, so simple and yet so intriguing. Its metal wired interlaced zig-zag path forms a 1.6km long elevated walkway which ends at the Henderson Park .
On reaching Henderson Park , the skies suddenly darkened. We were caught in a shower as we made our way to the famed Henderson Wave. Despite the rain, our spirits were not dampened. The ‘Henderson Wave’ is a marvel of modern bridge architecture. To soften the feel of the steel structure, the floor was constructed of wooden slats. It looks like a huge dragon. The ‘Wave’ connects Henderson Hill with Mount Faber .
The group at Mount Faber
After 2 hours of meandering through dirt and brick road, the group finally reached Mount Faber . With Vivo City in sight, the younger members of our group, lured by the conveniences of modern living decided to skip the bus journey back to Hitachi GST. It was a happy ending to our Southern Ridge adventure. Said Xu Jun Ling, “I enjoyed the sights and sounds of nature, it is a different Singapore that we used to know and the fresh air, sunshine and exercise definitely revive my senses”.
