How to Pan the Map
You can use two ways to pan a map on MapQuest.com:
- Your Mouse
- The Compass on the Map
Your Mouse

Move your mouse over any part of the map.
Notice your pointer is a hand .

Click and hold anywhere on the map.
Now your pointer grabs the map .

Drag it in any direction to pan the map.
Compass on the Map
You can use the compass on the map to change the position of the map.
From the compass you can:
- Click the N at the top of the compass to pan the map to the North.
- Click the right arrow to pan the map to the East.
- Click the down arrow at the bottom of the compass to pan the map to the South.
- Click the left arrow to pan the map to the West.
How to Zoom In or Out
You have multiple ways to zoom in or out of a map on MapQuest.com:
- Scroll wheel on your mouse
- Double click
- Zoom control bar
Scroll wheel on your mouse.
- To zoom in, scroll the wheel downward (toward you).
- To zoom out, scroll the wheel upward (away from you).
Double click.
- Double click your mouse to zoom in.
Each double click zooms in one level on the zoom control bar.

- To zoom in, click the + icon in the zoom control bar, or click and drag the slider upward.
- To zoom out, click the - icon in the zoom control bar, or click and drag the slider downward.
Re-Center Map
After panning or zooming your map, you can always return to your
original view of the mapped location. Click the circular arrow on the
compass to return to your original view with your location in the center
of your map.
