1  conditional-used to talk about future likely possibilities. Use this to speak about simple facts, cause and effect, predictions, and to persuade others.
 
if clause :if/when + present + tense
Result(main) clause:future(will or going to)
if you jump off the roof you'll die!
 
2 conditional-used to talk about unreal situations in the present or in the future.Use this when your attitude is negative - when you don't believe something is possible, and to make polite commands.
 
if clause:if+ subject+simple past
Result(main) clause:subject + would/could/might+present tense
I wouldn't jump off that roof if I were you!
 
3 conditional-used to talk about unreal situations in the past. Use this to speak about regret, to imagine alternative situations in your past, or to criticize politely.
 
if clause:if + subject + had + past participle
Result(main) clause: subject + would/could/might + have + past  participle
if I hadn't jumped off that roof I would't have broken my legs!
