跨越五千年，The 5000 Year Leap，一书的作者说其内容是关于美国的28条原则。

索性翻译了一把，感兴趣的可以看看。翻译不足请指正，其他请不要做置评。

 

free people：直译是自由人。政治课本好像讲过，忘记了，因此具体内容不清楚。

republic：共和制，共和国，是一种政府体制，具有选举产生、非世袭的首领。所以说，当今大部分国家都是共和国。

human frailties：直译是人性的弱点。源于圣经的原罪sin，包括傲慢pride、嫉妒envy、暴怒wrath、懒惰sloth、贪婪greed、暴食gluttowy、**lust。

 

1. The only reliable basis for sound government and just human relations is natural law.
   健全政府和人类之间关系的唯一可靠基础是自然法。
2. A free people cannot survive under a republican constitution unless they remain virtuous and morally strong.
   除非人们保持高度的良知和道义，否则在共和宪法下就不是一个自由人。
3. The most promising method of securing a virtuous and a morally stable people is to elect virtuous leaders.
   确保人民维持良知和道义最有希望的方法是选举出具有良知的领导人。
4. Without religion the government of a free people cannot be maintained.
   如果没有宗教信仰，那么自由人的政府不能长久。
5. To protect man's rights, God has revealed certain principles of divine law.
