What she is like.... She's sixteen, 160 cm tall, weighs 52 kilos, has short red hair and both the girls and the guys think she's “kinda1 pretty.” Her name is Sandi.
She's not a total jock2, but can handle herself on a basketball court, and will probably make the school team. She likes roller blades, vegetarian3 pizza, good romance novels, “chick flicks” and guys that are tall and thin.
She listens to hard rock and sometimes a little country and western when no one is watching. Her best girlfriend has a tattoo and she is thinking about it but knows her parents would “just freak.”
What's in her purse.... Two colors of eye shadow, two lipsticks and one lip gloss, her new eye brow pencil and a stick of “cover up” for when she gets the zits. One pack of Kleenex4 tissue, two packs of Juicy Fruit gum, one comb, one hair brush, one earring that she cannot find the mate for and the case for her braces.
She has her new cell phone her parents gave her for her 16th birthday. There's her address book with everybody's address and birthdates and the name of the really cute guy she met at Disneyland last summer. She has $4 left from her $20 allowance (money her parents give her every week) and a ticket to the school dance on Friday night.
What's in her locker.... Two old peanut butter sandwiches that she'll get around to throwing out one of these days, her P.E. clothes, all her schoolbooks and a pair of jeans she doesn't want her Mother to know about. (They are too tight for her Mother's taste.)
On the door she has taped an autographed5 picture of Nickelback* (she went to the concert with her girlfriends just last month. “It was an absolute blast!!!”), a picture of her and her best girlfriend at the beach, a photo of her old boyfriend (“We're just good friends now....”) and a mirror for checking make up and for keeping an eye on the boy in the locker next to hers.
What's in her heart.... She really loves her family, her best friend Rachel, and Toby, her big black dog. She hates girls who are all about pretty and guys who get drunk and act stupid.
There is a dream about finishing high school and going to university to become a lawyer, the kind who help people, not just get rich.
She carries some pretty strong feelings for the guy in the locker next to hers and this week, he actually waited around to say hi. And there is this place that she is saving for “Mr. Right. ”She knows he'll find her one day and they will fall madly in love and get married and have two babies and a house and a big black dog.
She's a lot like her friends. She's a typical “high school girl”.
