The Most Important Body Part!
人体最重要的部位
My mother used to ask me what is the most important part of the body.
妈妈以前经常问我身体最重要的部位是哪里？
Through the years I would take a guess at what I thought was the correct answer. When I was younger, I thought sound was very important to us as humans, so I said, "My ears, Mommy. " She said, "No. Many people are deaf. But you keep thinking about it and I will ask you again soon."
这些年来，我一直试图猜测出自以为正确的答案。当我年幼的时候，我想对于人类而言，声音是最重要的。所以我告诉妈妈说：”是耳朵。“妈妈说：“不是的，还有很多人是听不多声音的。你继续想吧，我还会问你的。”
Several years passed before she asked me again. Since making my first attempt, I had contemplated the correct answer. So this time I told her, Mommy, sight is very important to everybody, so it must be our eyes." She looked at me and told me, "You are learning fast, but the answer is not correct because there are many people who are blind."
很多年过去了，妈妈再次问起我这个问题。出于我的第一次尝试的失败，我一直在深深的思考寻找正确答案。这次我告诉妈妈，视力对每个人都很重要，因而一定是我们的眼睛。她看着我对我说：“你学习的很快，但是答案是错误的。因为这世界上还有很多盲人。”
Stumped again, I continued my quest for knowledge and over the years, Mother asked me a couple more times and always her answer was, "No. But you are getting smarter every year, my child."
再一次遭受失败，这些年我一直耗费脑力在思考这个问题。在此期间，妈妈又问了我几次，但她的回复总是：“孩子，你越来越聪明了，但是还是回答错了。”
Then last year, my grandpa died. Everybody was hurt. Everybody was crying. Even my father cried. I remember that especially because it was only the second time I saw him cry. My Mom looked at me when it was our turn to say our final good-bye to Grandpa. She asked me, " Do you know the most important body part yet, my dear?" I was shocked when she asked me this now. I always thought this was a game between her and me.
去年，我的爷爷去世了。每个人都伤心流泪。我的父亲也哭了。至今我仍记忆犹新，因为这是我第二次看到他哭泣。当我们与爷爷告别的时候，妈妈看着我，：“孩子，你现在知道人体最重要的部位了吗？”当她问我这个问题的时候，我震惊了，我一直以为这只是我们之间的一个游戏而已。
She saw the confusion on my face and told me, "This question is very important. It shows that you have really lived in your life. For every body part you gave me in the past, I have told you were wrong and I have given you an example why. But today is the day you need to learn this important lesson." She looked down at me as only a mother can. I saw her eyes well up with tears. She said, "My dear, the most important body part is your shoulder. "
看到我一脸的疑惑，她告诉我：“这个问题很重要。她表达了你真实的生活。过去你给我的每一个答案，我都告诉你错了，并举例说明原因。但是今天，你需要学会这重要的一课了。”她低头用一种只有母亲才有的神情看着我，我看到泪水在她的眼眶中打转。她说：“亲爱的，最重要的是你的肩膀。”
I asked, "Is it because it holds up my head?"
我问道：“是因为它承受着我的脑袋吗？”
She replied, "No, it is because it can hold the head of a friend or a loved one when they cry. Everybody needs a shoulder to cry on sometime in life, my dear. I only hope that you have enough love and friends that you will always have a shoulder to cry on when you need it."
她回答说：“不，是因为当你的朋友或亲人哭泣时，她能托起他们的头。在人的一生中，每个人都需要一个肩膀去哭泣。孩子，我只盼着你有足够的爱心和朋友，在你需要的时候，能够有一个肩膀可以依靠，哭泣。”
Then and there I knew the most important body part is not a selfish one. It is sympathetic to the pain of others. People will forget what you said ... People will forget what you did ... But people will NEVER forget how you made them FEEL.
那会，我知道了人体最重要的部位是无私的，是对处于痛苦中的人的同情。人们总会忘记你说过的和做过的。但人们将永远不会忘记在他们需要依靠的时候，你所给予他们的安慰和帮助。
