Moving Data from one partition to another

question:

I have a new project that will require me to move data from one partition of
our 400 to another. I have not done this functionality before, and I'm looking
for suggestions on how to do this the most efficient way. Thank you, to all
who  offer suggestions!

answer 1:

You can use FTP or SNADS (SNDNETF) or DDM files to transfer data from one
partition from another.

answer 2:

You can use SAVRST, SAVRSTLIB and SAVRSTOBJ commands too.

answer 3:

I tend to use DDM, the file-link can remain permanent, and you can use it as
you would a normal file (mostly).

answer 4:

SAVRST* commands are nice, but you must have ObjectConnect installed. (On V5R4
it's SS1 option 22. No charge, but not part of default installation.) It's SNA
so you may need to configure AnyNet. Under the covers it saves to a temporary
save file, transfers the file, does the restores, then cleans up - all of the
stuff you'd have to do anyway.

answer 5:

Just of fun try copying and pasting from the IFS. If there are fewer objects
that might work better.

answer 6(passthru):

If your system is v5r4 or above, I suggest you using MQT, that can be shared
between partitions.

Different between v5r4 an v5r3 is a query making from MQTs, v5r3 only one MQT,
v5r4 no this limitation.
