A company selling real-time embedded Linux control tools and applications is offering a free remote file manager. Real-Time Logic's (RTL's) BarracudaDrive V1.5.2 provides remote file management on Linux, Windows, or Mac PCs from any Internet computer, the company says, and demonstrates the company's Barracuda webserver and SharkSSL library.

EventHandlers (EHs) run on a device supervisor, within the embedded application, and within the client-side DHTML application

RTL's innovative
Barracuda webserver includes an event-handler that updates client-side DHTML applications without requiring constant polling. This minimizes network usage in control and sensing applications using expensive network links, the company says, while still allowing access through corporate firewalls.

BarracudaDrive is distributed in binary form, under a license that permits non-commercial use. It runs as an HTTP and HTTPS server, and provides a simple interface for file management functions.

According to RTC, the BarracudaDrive application was built using RTL's Barracuda development platform, and uses its Barracuda Embedded HTTP server library and SharkSSL library. The free download also serves as the example program for RTL's online security whitepaper.

Availability

Binary distributions of BarracudaDrive 1.5.2 for Linux, Windows, and Mac PCs are available here.
