MyThreads-Links is a flexible web based links manager that looks similar to Yahoo but was written in PHP and uses MySQL. MyThreads-Links uses PHPLib Templates so that its very simple for anyone to change the look and feel of the program without having to edit the code.

Main features:

• Any user can suggest, edit or delete links and categories (and sub-categories),
• links and categories modifications are then validated by the webmaster,
• search engine,
• meta categories (new links, updated links, most requested links),
• optional email notification,
• easy customization since all HTML is in templates (english and french available),
• easy database customization, add some fields in your database and have them managed by myThreads in 5 minutes,
• easy installation with the web based installer.

This new development tree will try to focus on these features:

• phplib based users and permissions,
• binary custom database fields support,
• multiple categories per link,

Better late than never ! This new stable release adds some major features, which can be used to categorize anything (not just links) and build multi-lingual sites:

- easy database/forms customization (any new db field can be managed in 5 minutes)
- dynamic templates selection (with /index.php3?tmpl=XXX)
- the admin can see the old and updated link on a single page to ease the approval decision
- rss page for new and updated links
- the admin can now directly edit entries without having to validate them in the wait queue
- more than one admin can be declared
- german templates
- new 'details' page for each entry
- links are now indexed from an unique ID, not from the URL.
- PDF/Html user and admin manual ()

0.9.1: easy database customization ! Sat, 24 May 2003 23:41:50 GMT

After the easy layout customization of 0.7.x series, now comes the time for database customization with 0.9.1 !
You can now add text and links fields to your database and have them managed by Mythreads. Support for other data types will come soon (binary data for example). You'll find customization examples in the html and pdf documentation.

This release is quite stable as I use it daily on so don't be afraid to run this 'unstable' release !

As always to upgrade, please read the UPGRADE file and run migrate-1.0.0.php3. ()

0.7.0 finally released ! Sun, 05 May 2002 20:13:47 GMT

This release got NUMEROUS improvements since the 0.6 release:
- 100% template based for easy translation,
- web based installer,
- email notifications,
- 'anti-spam' hits counter,
- WebSecretary generation script (in php for the server, and in perl for the client), to keep track of updated pages,
- on the fly text to image substitution,
- speed improvements,
- database table prefix support,
- updated links meta category,
- and much more options in config.php3 !

Major changes were made to the template system. Read the UPGRADE file if your want to update your 0.6 based working web site.

CVS:
As of version 0.5.2 we are now using cvs to development of MyThreads-Links. If you are new to cvs please go to the following and read the documentation for using cvs with sourceforge. You may also now browse the source of MyThreads-Links by clicking on the "Browse CVS" on the left.

If you are interested in doing development just sign up for the devel mailing list and post a message saying your ready to help.

Purpose:
Joshua C. originally started MyThreads-Links because he did not want to keep putting up his bookmarks file on the Internet. There are other program that do the same this as this out there but they where not free so MyThreads-Links was started to create a GPL Open Source Yahoo like links manager for everyone to use.

Installation and Demos (of v1.0.0beta):
If you want to test the administration functions the username is "test" and the password is "test". Please do not delete anything you did not add.
- Uses main.tpl.
- French templates.
- German templates.
- Slovak templates.

For installation instructions download the .tar.gz file and do a "gzip -d mythreads-links*.tar.gz" and "tar -xv mythreads-links*.tar". Now open the README and have fun.
