An unusual solution: Optimum utilization of overload capability - Siemens is increasing the transmission capacity of the “East-South” long-distance HVDC transmission link in India from 2000 to 2500 MW“
July 10, 2006 | More power for Bangalore: Siemens Power Transmission and Distribution (PTD) is increasing the transmission capacity of the “East-South” long-distance high-voltage direct-current transmission (HVDC) link in India from 2000 to max. 2500 MW. Since 2003 the Siemens system has transported electrical power with low loss from the Talcher power plant complex in the state of Orissa in the East of India over 1450 km (900 miles) to the south to the industrial region around Bangalore.
