NetBeans was released a few days ago, I have downloaded and tried it myself.
I am very impressed on its new windows system, and it looks more pretty than before when you use Swing Metal skin(I prefer the Swing skin, other than the system native look and feel).
Other new features included:
1. JDK 7 support.
2. Java FX2 support.
Java FX 2 support maybe the main feature of NetBeans 7.1. But none know the future of Java FX 2. No doubt that Oracle have put much effort into JavaFX development in the last year. And maybe you know the change of the newest JDK 7 update 2, JavaFX SDK is shipped by default, so do not need download Java FX standalone, this means JDK will bound JavaFX in future. Of course, from the news I noticed Oracle will include JavaFX in Java 8 directly when Java 8 is release.
Java FX is the alternative of Swing?
Today I also received the letter from NetBeans QA team, some of my bugs had been fixed in this version.
