Today We had a conference with the engineer from Hitachi Global Storage Technologies. Because our storage productions will be equiped with enterprise disks, and we'd like to coorperate with some disk suppliers such as Seagate, Hitachi, WD and so on, the HGST engineer introduced us some lastest model of enterprise disk. In one of piece of product specification it is printed that the external transfer rate of disk is 300Mb/s, which should be 300MB/s. when I point this mistake, the HGST engineer said that it didn't matter, and I am faint.
We are not fully convinced whether our storage contoller can be compatible with Hitachi disk's advanced features. from the engineer's experience it won't be a problem. However, Our request of firmware's customization was refused, which I think is not a good news for our coorperation. If our company is powerful enough to sell several thousands of disks out with our products & solutions, firmware's customization will be a piece of cake.
I learned little from this conference.
