Diagnositic Files
Contain information about signiificant events encountered.
Several types exist:
・alertSID.log
Records the commands;Records results of major events
Used for day-to-day operational information;Used for diagnosing database errors;
Location defined by BACKGROUND_DUMP_DEST
・Background Trace Files: SID_processname_PID.trc
Log errors detected by any background process;
Location defined by
・User Trace Files:Files: SID_ora_PID.trc
produced by the user process
can be generated by a server process
Location defined by USER_DUMP_DEST
Enable/Disable User Tracing
Session level:
①SQL>alter session set sql_trace =true;
②SQL>dbms_system.SET_SQL_TRACE_IN_SESSION
Instance level
setting the imitialization parameter:
SQL_Trace =TRUE
