PS：昨天安装了   6.3做测试，发现默认就可以使用yum在线安装和更新了。之前5.x的时候记得是不可以的。也搞了个Yum Server，这个发行版就是红帽的RHEL的重编译版，跟类似。特点是其有为oracle数据库和中间件产品优化的Unbreakable内核。官方说其跑oracle数据库性能会比RHEL原版提高75%，这个本人有所保留，不评论。

Introduction

The Oracle public yum server offers a free and convenient way to install the latest  packages as well as packages from the  installation media via a yum client.

You can download the full Oracle Linux and Oracle VM installation media via edelivery.oracle.com/linux. To stay current on errata updates, you may wish to subscribe to the Oracle Linux errata mailing list.

This yum server is offered without support of any kind. If you require support, please consider purchasing Oracle Linux Support via the online store, or via your sales representative.

Getting Started

1. Download and Install Oracle Linux
2. Download and copy the appropriate yum configuration file in place, by running the following commands as root:
   

   Oracle Linux 4, Update 6 or Newer

   # cd /etc/yum.repos.d # mv Oracle-Base.repo Oracle-Base.repo.disabled # wget  

   Oracle Linux 5

   # cd /etc/yum.repos.d # wget  

   Oracle Linux 6

   # cd /etc/yum.repos.d # wget  

   Oracle VM 2

   # cd /etc/yum.repos.d # wget  

3. Enable the appropriate repository by editing the yum configuration file
   • Open the yum configuration file in a text editor
   • Locate the section in the file for the repository you plan to  from, e.g. [el4_u6_base]
   • Change enabled=0 to enabled=1
4. Begin using yum, for example:yum listyum install 

You may be prompted to confirm the import of the Oracle OSS  GPG key.

Oracle Linux有两种内核：兼容Red Hat  Linux的内核（使用RHEL源代码编译）和Oracle自己的Unbreakable Enterprise内核。Oracle声明Unbreakable Enterprise内核兼容RHEL，Oracle中间件和经过RHEL认证的第三方应用程序可以不经过修改的在Unbreakable Enterprise内核上运行。
