Officially there isnt’s a strict requirement of a specific edition, so you can play to use it also on Essential, Essential+ or Standard edition of vSphere.
In this case, the deplotyment is a little more complicated and is documented in the KB 2013695 (Deploying vCenter Operations Manager 5.0 with vSphere Essentials, Essentials Plus, or Standard):
Warning: This step destroys the vApp. An error displays. Disregard the error message and continue moving the host into the cluster.
Moving the ESXi host with the vCenter Operations vApp back into the cluster results in the addition of the two virtual machines (the UI virtual machine and the Analytics virtual machine) to the cluster, without the vApp container. vCenter Operations Manager 5.0 continues to function normally when this happens.
Note: If you want to change the IP address of the virtual machines in future, run repair in the UI virtual machine becaue the vApp structure no longer exists in vCenter Server.
Because the vApp structure no longer exists, you must manually handle the correct boot and shutdown sequence:
Note: For vSphere Essentials, you must deploy the vApp on a standalone host.
