1.1及物动词

及物动词（Transitive Verb）的特征就是其后必须跟宾语（Object），否则不能表达一个完整的意思。“及物”就是主体把动作传达到客体上。“物”泛指物或人。

1.1A 接简单宾语的及物动词

有些及物动词可直接接一个宾语，即简单宾语。如：

He congratulated her.他向她表示祝贺。（他祝贺她）；

Tall trees catch much wind. 树大招风。

I accompanied him to the station. 我陪他到车站去了。

The passengers boarded the aeroplane at noon. 旅客们中午上了飞机。

We must consider the matter carefully. 关于这个问题， 我们必须仔细考虑。

We discussed his work during dinner. 我们在吃饭的时候讨论过他的工作。

He is going to marry Miss Green.他将和格林小姐结婚。

He mentioned the plan, but gave no details.他提到了这个计划，但没细讲。

At last they reached the top of the hill. 他们终于到达了山顶。

1.1B 带双宾语的及物动词

 有些及物动词可接双宾语。这种动词又称为“授予动词”（Dative Verbs）。这是由“授物于人”或“授人以物”的基本观念产生的。通常“物”是直接宾语，人是间接宾语，因为真正给出的是“物”，接爱“物”的是人。如：

Give me the goods, and I will give you the money. 把贷物交给我，我就会付你钱。

I asked him a question. 我问了他一个问题。

常用的用法类似的动词有： accord（给予），allow（允许;让……得到），award（发给，给予），bring（带来），buy（买），deny（不给予，拒绝给予），grant（同意给予），hand（递），leave（留），lend（借），offer（提供），owe（欠），pass（递），pay（支付），promise（允许，许诺），read（读），tell（告诉，讲），throw（抛，扔），wish（希望）,write（写）等。如：

 

His friends accorded Tom their sincere thanks. 他的朋友对汤姆表示诚挚的感谢。

He allows him no rest. 他不允许自己休息。

The judge awarded her 50 pounds as damage. 法官判给她50镑作为赔偿费。

Bring me the basket,please. 请把篮子带给我。

We must buy her some clothes. 我们必须给她买一些衣服。

The general granted us permission to visit the military base. 将军准许我们参观那个军事基地。

Can you lend me 10 pounds? I'll return it next week. 你能借我10镑吗？下周还给你。

I've promised Susan the book by Monday. 我已答应周一前给苏珊那本书.

Will you kindly show us that coat over there? 请把那的上衣拿给我们看看好吗？

Take her some flowers. 给她带去一些花。

Throw the poor dog a bone. 扔根骨头给那只可怜的狗。

She wrote her mother a check. 她给母亲开了一张支票。

通常把间接宾语放在直接宾语前面，如果为加强语气等原因而把直接宾语放到前面去的话，就要在间接宾语前面加介词to，for等，构成一个介词短语。如：

I send a letter to her. = I sent her a letter. 我寄了一封信给她。

I bought a new dress for her. =  I bought her a new dress. 我给她买了一件新衣服。
