Alternative Indigenous Development Foundation
A Negros-based foundation has taken philanthropy to new heights after being declared
ground one of the finalists in the British Broadcast Corporation’s (BBC) international competition for introducing a water pump, which doesn’t use any fuel in the highland communities of the Philippines.
Alternative Indigenous Development Foundation, Inc. (AIDFI) founder and executive director Auke Idzenga is asking Filipinos to vote their organization in BBC’s World Challenge competition, which recognizes small enterprises and innovations that make a difference on the grassroots level.
Idzenga, a 42-year-old native from The Netherlands who has lived in Negros Occidental for the past 25 years, said he made the invention after finding inadequate water supply in many provinces.
