The investigation into what caused the system failure
"The fire department does sort of an initial investigation to determine if it can determine what the cause was, and we know that the cause was this pipe that leaked hot water and steam," he said. "But we don't know why it did that."
The fire department worked on the scene until about 3 p.m., and it was fairly easy to determine that it was a system failure, Freitag said."The end of the pipe didn't have a cap on it and, for some reason, water got into the pipe when it shouldn't have," he said.
The investigation into what caused the system failure is still ongoing, said Russell Baker, the president of Thermal West Industrial, one of the subcontractors working on the piping system. He said the pipes were not ready to be filled with the high-temperature water and the steam tunnel system was not ready to be activated.
