sight Hamley's was doing just that yesterday when it launched its list of the hottest dozen toys this Christmas. And with some five million children passing through Hamley's flagship toy store on London's Oxford Street each year, head buyer Laura Olver has a pretty good idea of what will bring smiles to the faces of Ireland's children this Christmas.
"It's a great barometer for us," she said as her buying team arrived at the shop's outlet at the Dundrum town centre yesterday to showcase this year's toys.
Replicas of high-end cars are apparently at the top of the wish-list of boys and girls on both sides of the Irish Sea. Despite the recession, there are apparently some parents who will be willing to splash out ?,700 for a limited edition model of a Mercedes Benz SLS AMG.
