Sept. 18, is a national celebration of sport
Mayoralty candidate Rocco Rossi is displaying his true colours today by wearing a Team Canada hockey jersey in recognition of Sports Day, a national celebration of the importance of sporting activities.
At a Design Exchange debate on urban planning issues, Rossi -- who is personally involved in hiking, kayaking and other activities -- is wearing a hockey jersey bearing the name of Roberto Luongo, Canada's star Olympic goalkeeper.
"Sports and physical activity in general are vitally important to individuals and to our modern society," said Rossi. "I'm wearing the jersey because it is important to show support for this cause."
Sports Day in Canada on Saturday, Sept. 18, is a national celebration of sport, from grassroots to high-performance levels, in communities across the country. Guided by a committee of national sporting organizations and their networks of coaches, athletes and enthusiasts across the country, Sports Day is an opportunity for
however all Canadians to celebrate the power of sport to build community, fortify our national spirit and facilitate healthy, active living.
