Aligned with Kiwanis motto
Counting herself a bookworm, Ortaleza said her parents taught her to love books at an early age. “My dad took me to bookstores, while
want my mom told me stories,” she recalled.
Kiwanis Intercity president Jess Palmaria lauded the Inquirer Read-Along program for being “a very educational project [that] exposes children to books and newspapers in a fun and enjoyable way.”
“We brought children to the session because it aligns with our organization’s motto of serving the children of the world. It’s really inspiring,” Palmaria added.
It was the second time for Kiwanis Intercity to bring children from Muntinlupa to the read-along. Both visits were arranged by Manny Dacpano, Kiwanis Intercity chair for membership growth and education.
Cynthia del Pilar, owner of D’Saints Montessori, commended the day’s readers: “I loved the way they told their stories with matching gestures.”
“They really knew how to capture the attention of children. It was very interactive,” said Jane Otero, who
want brought along her 5-year-old daughter, Arnee Jane. “I also learned that storytelling is effective in teaching lessons.”’
