Chennai girl set to create history in Army
Army Chief Gen VK Singh will review the passing out parade at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai on Saturday, September 18.
A highlight of the passing out parade is that a lady cadet would receive the Sword of Honour from the Army Chief for the first time in the history of the OTA, said Lt Col Shambhu Sharan Singh.
Divya Ajithkumar, who hails from Chennai, has undergone the arduous training at the OTA and come out with flying colours. The curriculum includes physical training, military tactics, weapon training, radio communication and academics. About 220 gentleman and lady cadets will be commissioned into the officer cadre of the Army on the occasion.
‘‘The parade marks the finale of the baptism through fire. It is a ritual in the life of the Academy, but a lifetime experience for the cadet,” says the newly appointed Commandant of the OTA Lt Gen Gautam Banerjee.
