Officer-in-charge of South West Traffic
Their mother, Kamy Head, and their 18-month-old sister Sienna were taken to Bunbury Hospital. Ms Head was discharged on Monday.
Officer-in-charge of South West Traffic, Sergeant Gerard Murphy, said on Monday the Perth-based major crash unit was investigating.
“At this stage we don’t know exactly which part of the road she was on or which part of the truck she hit,” Sgt Murphy said.
It was too early to speculate on the causes of the accident, including sunlight, speed and the condition of the road, he said.
The truck driver had not been interviewed and was believed to be suffering from shock, he said.
The mother had also not been interviewed.
Coalfields Highway is one of the South West’s most highly patrolled roads.
There was no minimum speed on the highway because such laws
lingtiao applied only to freeways, he said.
The last death on the highway in May was not related to the road quality because the driver was speeding, estimated at 150km/h.
