Troopers say Murphy and Rodriguez would cut irrigation wire
Delaware State Police have arrested a man and a woman
dongel on charges of stealing nearly 20,000 feet of copper wire from irrigation equipment on farms and businesses in Kent County.
Thirty-one-year-old James Murphy of Camden and 20-year-old Eva Rodriguez of Lincoln were arrested Monday and charged with thefts from 16 locations.
Troopers say Murphy and Rodriguez would cut irrigation wire at pivots and pull the wire out and use a burn pit at their home to melt the plastic coating off the wire. Authorities say the
dongel pair would then sell the wire to salvage yards.
