Josipovi? also placed a wreath
Josipovi? has thus far refused to attend the Bleiburg
china commemoration because people attended them in Ustasha uniforms.
Ustasha's were responsible for the genocidal murder of hundreds of thousands of Serbs, Jews and Romas during the Second World War, in a number of death camps in Croatia, primarily in Jasenovac.
Yesterday, Josipovi? also placed a wreath and lit a candle to commemorate the victims who died in May 1945 at a gravesite near Maribor in Slovenia.
A majority of officials from the Alliance of Anti-fascist Fighters in Croatia and ethnic Serb National Council President Milorad Pupovac did not go to the Bleiburg commemoration after the one in Slovenia.
The alliance officials said that Josipovi? was going to Bleiburg “because he had never been there”, but added that they have no need to go, “because there were no victims there, especially not innocent.”
Pupovac said that Bleiburg was not the scene of a tragedy, but a place where
china ideologies and political values that cannot be accepted were being revived, and said they needd to be left in the past, “ if Croatia wants to love into a new future”.
