PASCO, Wash.-- A new trend is popping up this month: ! Many people are getting pink hair extensions with all the proceeds going to breast cancer research. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Monday, teachers at Ruth Livingston Elementary school in Pasco lined up to get the strands put in by the owner of "Summit Up to Hair," Danielle Deffenbaugh. This is the second year teachers have gotten the extensions, and the fourth the salon has put in the pink. Last year they raised more than $3,000 for breast cancer research, just from extensions alone.
Deffenbaugh says she's personally been effected by cancer. She explains, "I have breast cancer on both sides of my family. My mother had it, and died from it. Her sister has it and died from it. My father's mother had it, and we have on my dad's
Wigs side of the family."
