| The MEPIS project has announced the beginning of a testing process for 6.0-4, an updated version of its user-friendly, desktop-oriented Linux distribution: "MEPIS LLC has released Beta1 of SimplyMEPIS version 6.0-4, aka SystemUpdate1. SimplyMEPIS is a complete and safe desktop computing environment designed to meet the needs of everyday computer users and software professionals alike. MEPIS continues to offer advanced hardware auto-detection, multimedia integration, and an easy-to-use installer. Of special note, this update includes Firefox 2.0; the latest updates of other packages; and a rock-solid, security-patched 2.6.15 Linux kernel with support for the newest sound chips and Apple hardware.
