Resolutions for vCenter startup issue caused by DB

OracleDBConsoleVPX (a dependency service of vCenter) cannot be started result vCenter service cannot startup

 

[What’s the issue?]

OracleDBConsoleVPX service cannot startup and threw an error:

oracle.sysman.emcp.exception.EMConfigException

 

We thought the problem could be fixed by renaming the directory in D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\oc4j\j2ee

Or recreating the DB Console using EMCA following my Blog: http://blogold.chinaunix.net/u3/114662/showart.php?id=2300635

 

However DB Console service still cannot be shutdown and also cannot startup using command line.

 

[What’s the root cause?]

After co-research with DBA, we need to apply an oracle patch to fix this issue.

The issue comes from the certification expired in 12/31/2010 for enterprise manager database control component.

Oracle DB Patch: 8350262

After apply this DB patch, we have to update time zone manually in D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\[Computer-name or localhost]_vpx\sysman\config\emd.properties

Update “agentTZRegion= America/Los_Angeles” to “agentTZRegion=GMT”

 

After this work around, we could startup OracleDBConsoleVPX now.
