今天终于知道“回归”的来历了

一直不知道为社么叫“回归分析”，这个Regression和统计有啥关系，今天看wiki的解释之后，豁然开朗：

The term "regression" was coined by , a cousin of , in the nineteenth century to describe a biological phenomenon. The phenomenon was that the heights of descendants of tall ancestors tend to regress down towards a normal average.

翻译：这一现象是，高度高的祖先的后代往往倒退了向正常的平均水平。


“回到正常值”正是说明了自变量（independent variable ）和因变量（dependent variable ）之间的关系。

故regression在统计中得名。
